“Let no joyful voice be heard! Let no man look up at the sky with hope! And let this day be cursed by those who dare to wake the Kraken!

House Sathar hails from Karond Kar, gateway to the eastern oceans, and home of many great Corsair and Slaver houses.
The house was formed by a grant from the then Lord of Karond Kar to Lady Hagana Sathar following a series of great victories against Ulthuanni raiders.

Dreadlady Hagana had many children by a succession of husbands and lovers, and their children in turn founded the branches of the House.

From its origins, the house focussed on raiding, slave-taking and building its power in its estates around Karond Kar. Through a series of intelligent political alliances and marriages, including with House Uthorin, Dreadlady Hagana built her house into a power to be reckonned with in Karond Kar.

Following her death, in the marriage bed if rumours are to be believed, leadership of the house has passed between her children, with a council deciding on the basis of a complex voting and patronage system, who shall be the next Dreadlord or Lady.

House Sathar is an extended clan, split into a number of bloodlines, each of which calls one of Hangana’s children their ancestor. Broadly speaking the house has the following factions, with members of the House active in one area or another through their lives:

The Dance Politic

Dedicated to maintaining and building Sathar power through alliance, trade, subtle murder and politics.

Corsairs and Slavers

Hagana was a corsair admiral, and much of the house dedicates itself to raiding and slaving across the world.

The Kraken Guard

Hagana’s youngest son Jago was a great warrior, and the Kraken Guard strive to follow in his martial footsteps.

Iago Sathar, of the Jago Sathar is the latest Dreadlord of House Sathar, and believed by many in the house to be the very reincarnation of Bloodyhanded Jago himself. Through a series of masterful political gambits and battles in the arena’s and streets of Naggaroth itself he gained the attention of the Witch King Malekith.

With the overconfidence of his bloodline Iago called for, and was granted a Writ of Iron from the Witch King’s Court to join House Uthorin in the invasion of Ulthuan.

He gathered a warhost of those Sathar most hungry for the prestige or honour of bloody-handed adventure and lead them to Ulthan aboard the Black Arks and a fleet of Sathar ships. Beneath the Grey Kraken Banner he would lead House Sathar to its ancient glory, and then eclipse even that.

Following his death in the opening moments of the invasion all of those grand plans were thrown into uncertainity.

Beseiged in Naggaroth

In the far north, what remains of the House’s nobles fight against the circling scavengers intent on sacking the house in the absence of its great Dreadlord. No word travels from Karond Kar to guide the remains of the Sathar armies in Ulthuan.

Cut off in Ulthuan

House Sathar stands upon a knife-edge. In Ulthuan and the Old World the remnants of the Sathar armies struggle to regain their momentum without the Dreadlord to lead, and without firm leadership from the House.

For the eye of the Witch King’s court rests malefically upon House Sathar, and the Writ of Iron will be fulfilled. One way or another.
